26 JANUARY 2011 Once Innovations introducing AgriShift® AC LED Poultry Lights to Latin American Producers AgriShift® AC LED Poultry Lights from LED technology developer Once Innovations (ONCE) are being introduced to Latin American markets under the leadership of Dennis Bonet, Director of International & Regional Sales. This new breed of poultry-specific lighting is the result of pioneering LED technology and research into the spectral sensitivity of domestic fowl. “This is the new frontier of the poultry industry,” exclaimed Mr. Bonet. “I recently had a number of encouraging conversations with producers and other industry experts at the FIGAP/VIV Americana Latina in Guadalajara who are very enthusiastic about poultry applications for LED lighting. It makes me very eager to build relationships and lend my technical perspective to customers in Latin America.” Mr. Bonet explained the immediate advantages of AgriShift lights are energy savings and longevity. “The average payback period based on energy savings alone is 18-months. Additionally, these lamps will last four to five times longer than CFLs and 30 times longer than incandescent bulbs. As to what makes AgriShift Poultry Lights superior to even other LED choices, Bonet said, “This is scientifically-developed solid state lighting utilizing what is arguably the most advanced AC LED conditioning circuitry in the world today. The benefits of this circuitry are many, including lower harmonic distortion, higher power factor, and smooth dimming capabilities. Beyond that, the output from the AgriShift AC LED Poultry Light is predominately within poultry’s peak spectral sensitivity range, meaning it closely mimics the color sensitivity of poultry (fluorescent, incandescent, and HID lamps do not). The luminous efficacy (lumens per watt), therefore, is poultry optimized and results in maximum perceived light at minimum power.” ONCE has published several scientific articles to educate poultry producers on this topic, including The Science of Poultry Lighting. A Bird’s Eye View that can be downloaded from their website at www.onceinnovations.com. Mr. Bonet urges producers to familiarize themselves as much as possible on the new generation of lighting options and says, “Education is paramount for remaining competitive and profitable in today’s global poultry market.” Zdenko Grajcar, Chief Technology Officer and CEO of ONCE, will be speaking on the Science of Poultry Lighting at the Technology Xchange during the International Poultry Expo in Atlanta January 26 to January 28 (see www.onceinnovations.com for details). Mr. Bonet encourages attendance at this presentation and hopes to meet Latin American producers at booth #1539 during the expo. Mr. Bonet is a graduate of the University of Central Florida where he received his degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is bi-lingual and has extensive experience in serving the Latin American markets. He currently resides in Orlando, Florida.
