Once Innovations becomes an Energy Star Partner in SSL.
PLYMOUTH, MN. USA – LED lighting design, research, and manufacturing company, Once Innovations (ONCE), announced it is now an Energy Star partner in Solid State Lighting.
“Energy Star has done a remarkable job in the last decade to educate Americans and help them save energy,” said Zdenko Grajcar, ONCE CEO. “We’re excited to formalize our commitment to similar ideals as an Energy Star partner.”
ONCE has been openly critical of Energy Star regarding its requirement that LED operating frequency be =/>150 Hz in order to meet its criteria for Integrated LED Lamps. Just last week ONCE made a formal request with the Department of Energy under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) for data used as the basis for setting the criteria.
Regarding the criticism, Craige Thompson, Chief Legal Officer for ONCE said, “Our disagreement is in regard to this one narrow issue, not the broader purpose and practices of Energy Star. That’s not to minimize how important that issue is to companies who have invested heavily to bring affordable, energy saving lighting to average Americans. Even so, we’re looking forward to a productive relationship with Energy Star that’s beneficial in helping Americans buy energy saving products with consistent standards of measurement.”
