Reusable – The Forgotten “R”

A Giant Step Up from Recycling and the top echelon in the reduce, recycle, and reuse pyramid.

Although many companies around the world have embraced recycling, few have thought about the concept of reuse when it comes to products and packaging. Experts agree, however, that reusable packaging is the ultimate way to conserve energy and natural resources because it is infinitely more energy efficient than that which is recycled or recyclable.

Recognizing this, Once Innovations has adopted the orphan R and has committed to the practice of developing reusable packaging in the course of normal business operations.

Unlike plastic blister packs and other wasteful packaging, reusable containers don’t end up in landfills. Plus they save the cost of washing, transportation, labor, and other factors.

Some items reused today include plastic and paper bags, fabric shopping bags, beverage bottles, and plastic shipping containers. Even so, much more creativity and innovation is needed to develop items that can serve more than one purpose.
